Mobile Operators Missing Out by Not Maximizing Mobile Broadband Opportunity

Flash Networks, announced optimization techniques applied to HSDPA results in faster web browsing than ASDL enabling mobile operators to outperform ISP's.

The decreasing price of laptops, increased availability of built-in data cards, and the added benefit of mobility for both consumers and enterprise users have boosted the demand for mobile Internet, providing a tremendous market opportunity. With comparable and sometimes faster speeds, mobile operators are positioned to take market share away from ISP's.

Lab results confirm that browsing speed via 3G and 3.5G networks is 25% to 60% slower than ADSL connections due to the erratic and inefficient nature of wireless networks. However, by using acceleration technology mobile operators can increase browsing speed by 1.5 to 4 fold, providing users with similar and even faster browsing. High-speed mobile broadband combined with flat fee pricing enables wireless operators to boost ARPU and data revenues immediately without having to invest in additional services or user education.

"The single most determining factor for choosing an Internet service is speed," said Eli Mahal Vice President of Marketing at Flash Networks, "Fast mobile broadband enables wireless operators to generate new revenue streams by competing head to head with fixed operators. A European Tier One operator succeeded in increasing data revenues six fold through the introduction of fast mobile broadband services combined with flat fee pricing. There is a huge market opportunity for mobile operators who are ready to take on ISP's by proving fast mobile broadband."
