"Corporate responsibility is one of the four pillars of the company's Fit4More strategy designed to create a solid base for business performance by 2007 and beyond," said George Nolen, President and CEO of Siemens Corporation. "Our ranking in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index serves as a proof point that we are delivering on our corporate strategy."
Nolen added that the company is committed to sustainability not only through its own practices, but also by helping customers address their own sustainability needs through a broad portfolio of energy and environmental care products. Siemens has built one of the world's largest water technology companies and its leading energy business includes solutions in clean coal, wind and waste-to-energy, emission/pollution control, green buildings, ethanol plant controls and hybrid vehicles. In several of its non-energy businesses -- lighting, transportation, industrial automation and healthcare -- the company is also providing solutions that sustain natural resources and contribute to quality of life
Siemens scored very well in the current Dow Jones Sustainability Indices rankings, emerging as the benchmark in the Economic Performance Category. In the factors Corporate Governance, Product Stewardship and Corporate Citizenship, Siemens scored top marks compared to its competitors.
