According to a new technical market research report, Global Electronics: High Growth Products and New Markets- IFT063 from BCC Research, the world market for electronic products was worth some $1.8 trillion in 2006, a figure that is expected to increase to $2.0 trillion in 2007 and $3.2 trillion in 2012, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5% over the next 5 years.

Looking ahead into the future, and the year 2020, most people in five European countries and the U.S. believe that the dominant world power will either be the United States or China. But, there is some disagreement over which one of these will actually be the most dominant country. Pluralities in France (47%), Spain (45%) and Italy (38%) believe that China will be the dominant world power. A plurality of adults in the United States (40%) as well as one-third of British adults (32%) and 30 percent of Germans all say the U.S. will be the dominant world power in 2020.

Between 2000 and 2006, EU27 exports of goods to the 10 ASEAN countries rose from 42 billion euro to 49 bn, while imports increased from 75 bn to 79 bn. The EU27 deficit in trade with ASEAN fell from 34 bn in 2000 to 29 bn in 2006, accounting for 15% of the total EU27 external trade deficit. ASEAN accounted for around 5% of the EU27's total external trade in goods in 2006.

In the U.S., respondents who view the Internet as currently being "very safe" increased from 45 percent in February 2007 to 53 percent in August 2007. Similarly, U.S. respondents who believe the Internet will be much safer in the next six months increased from 26 percent in February to 32 percent in August.
