As the economic crisis continues around the globe, adults in the five largest European countries and the U.S. have different ideas about what it will mean for their retirement and their pensions or retirement savings. Seven in ten Germans (71%) and majorities of French (54%) and Spanish (53%) adults would oppose the idea of working beyond the current state pension/social security age to receive a larger pension while two-thirds of Americans (66%), three in five Britons (61%) and Italians (59%) would support such this idea.

Results of a new survey released by S1 Enterprise confirm that troubles in the banking sector have taken a toll on customers' relationships with their financial institutions - and provide insights on how banks can rebuild trust and confidence. Fielded among more than 1,200 U.S. and European consumers and 54 large corporate banking customers in April 2009, the survey finds that only 9 percent of consumer respondents in the U.S. and in Europe are currently confident in financial institutions.

A new survey released by Royal Philips Electronics shows that the average manager is sleeping 19% less than the recommended amount of eight hours a night. The survey, conducted in five countries around the globe, showed that 40% of those questioned blame the state of the world economy as the major reason for their lack of sleep.

While the rate of decline in new-vehicle retail sales has slowed in May, compared with the previous 12 months, a high level of consumer uncertainty remains, which has led to a flattening of retail sales and a projected delay in market recovery of two to three months beyond the spring selling season, according to J.D. Power and Associates, which gathers real-time transaction data from more than 10,000 dealerships across the United States.

Fitch Ratings said at its annual Global Banking Conference in London that European governments are likely to renew bank funding and liquidity facilities where necessary until the global financial system returns to a normal operating environment.
